I flew far on hope
Across the land and ocean
I learned a new language
Readied words on my tongue
The clock didn’t stop

For one brief moment
When I opened a door
And let light and love fill me
I waited years
A lifetime, really
To let the words fall from my lips
I left everything on the floor
To be stepped on, stepped over
Laughter in the distance…
